Tank School isn't its real name, unfortunately. I wasn't at Drive A Tank to learn, per se, but to spend a few hours driving tanks and shooting guns and, oh yeah, playing a videogame. Yes, its a game about tanks World of Tanks, to be exact, which recently released a new expansion called Mercenaries. World of Tanks prides itself on its huge roster of real-life armored vehicles it has almost 700 that you can fight your own war with and on this muggy day on a mud-covered patch of rural Minnesota we got to see how some of those tanks handled not just in the game but in the real world.

In the new Commander mode, players unsurprisingly take on the role of the Commander as they get a birds-eye view of the battlefield and the nine tanks they'll be controlling. Armed with unlimited ammo, players will give orders to tanks individually or as groups as they battle for victory. Alternatively, players can assume the role of a Tanker and team up with up to five more players to take down the Commander. The mode will be available from November 30th until December 9th. To give you an idea of what to expect, the developer has released a plethora of screenshots giving instructions on the game's mode, the control scheme, and some general action shots.
And if you're a fan of real-time strategy then you can also be delighted, because the return of Commander Mode is coming on March 5th! Players assume the role of the Commander to give direct orders to units from a birds-eye view, or team up with other players as a tanker to win through the strength of teamwork. And with the Wargaming listening to the community, the newest version of the mode will come with keyboard and mouse support.
